Junior Manufacturing Engineer

We're looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Sydney, Australia.

Are you a hands-on person who wants to build a career in high-tech manufacturing? Do you want to use your talents to advance medical research worldwide? If the answers are yes, then we would love to have a chat!

About us

We are Inventia Life Science and we are radically changing the way the world treats disease and injury. We're a multidisciplinary team, deeply inspired by the purpose of innovating for the better and backed by top-tier venture capital funds. We are now looking for a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to come on board and help us build our printers and manufacturing environment.

The role

As a Junior Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for supplying our 3D bioprinters to our customers. This will include everything from building and QCing brand new bioprinters, to building out the manufacturing environment we’ll be working in.

The current team sits at just under 50. Our revolutionary 3D cell biology technology enables pioneers in the fields of drug discovery and medicine to radically drive innovation from disease treatment (in areas such as cancer) through to the way we treat injuries. Our founders come from diverse backgrounds - Aidan (PhD Fluid Dynamics), Cam (PhD Biofabrication) and Julio (PhD Medicine) - with strong commercial acumen and supported by an incredible team inspired by making a global impact with our revolutionary technology.

The role will report directly to our Manufacturing Lead, William Lim.

To be considered for this role we need someone with the following:

  • Attention to detail: To make our bioprinters you will have to be able to follow complex procedures to the letter, and do it repeatedly.
  • Great hands-on skills: A demonstrated ability to build complex objects and have them work. This doesn’t have to be part of your education! Hobbies that demonstrate this are just as good, and sometimes better.
  • Critical thinking: While you need to follow instructions when building printers, we also need someone who can identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Time management: There’s a lot to do at Inventia, so being able to prioritise what needs to be done first will be very important.
  • Bachelor of Engineering: preferably Manufacturing or Industrial, but Mechanical or Mechatronics are also acceptable.

Our culture

We highly value our culture, the diversity of the team and the passion we have for taking our product to market and the impact it will have. A lot of people talk about unique and exceptional cultures, but not many lead it. We place a high value on creating a unique and exceptional workplace. Unlike many other startups, we live work-life balance.

Our passions are many and we believe the journey is as important as the outcome. So for us, it's about building an exceptional team and culture and loving every part of what lays ahead. We provide optionality in terms of working from home and the office, which is based in Sydney. Equity and a strong market based salary are on offer, within a supportive but empowered, fully agile environment, which we have worked hard to create.

Come and do work that really matters within a team who care as much about one another as the mission.
